Nature is in crisis and we need to take care of it if we want to continue inhabiting this planet. Fossil fuels are one of the main sources of pollution and cause of the deterioration of our environment.
Electric motors have existed for years. But the electric car had been located in a small sector of the population. With vehicles that look like golf and with few additional incentives to acquire them, the electric car simply remained a curious toy.
Genius to the rescue
But one of my personal heroes , Elon Musk, set his sights on the void of the market for an electric vehicle that was sexy too! Wondering why are all electric cars so ugly? The answer of this businessman to the world was to buy the project of an electric car called T-Zero from a fledgling Silicon Valley company called AC Propulsion. This was the birth of Tesla Motors.
The first Tesla model
The first prototype was developed in a garage, a train of lithium batteries gave the necessary power to this car. Musks design capabilities allowed him to design the cooling and electronic control system. This first model was launched as a high-priced vehicle. The first customers were celebrities who were enthusiastic about the idea of protecting the environment, including George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
Challenges and opportunities
Tesla was chosen as a beneficiary of a loans from the United States government, during the Barack Obama administration, to create a vehicle for the masses. The only requirement was to have a physical production plant. For this, it was decided to buy a property abandoned by Toyota, which was reformed for the new operation. The loan was repaid with interest shortly thereafter.
Before and After
Before Tesla, the idea of an electric car sounded good, but it was not something one had as burning desire. Now, the story is another. These fast and attractive sports cars, which run on electric power rather than oil derivatives, have become objects of desire in their own right.
Freight Revolution
Now the innovation is not only in the sedan market, they are also entering the market of heavy transport trucks. It is a work of art on wheels with great towing power.
Technological innovation can lead us to a future that we like or do not like. Im glad that creative companies like Tesla Motors are painting a positive outlook for the future.
